COVID-19 Update – 29 March

You will have seen the latest warnings from the Government, that the coronavirus epidemic in our country is likely to get significantly worse before it gets better. This makes everybody's efforts - especially staff in our NHS and social care - even more important, as we try to stop the spread of this dangerous virus. Thank you for what you are doing.

Social Distancing

This is why it is so important that we all follow the government's advice and stay home. If we have to go out, e.g., for food or daily exercise, we must all practice social distancing.

The local police have had some concerns about large numbers of people congregating in our parks and along our riverside. Please do all you can to avoid doing your daily exercise in a crowded area where you could pass on the infection.

For updates on what the police are doing, you can follow our local police chief Sally Benatar here and Kingston Police here.

Exercise at Home

Local pilates instructor Rachel Hardman is offering online pilates classes on Zoom. This is a good way to get exercise without leaving the house and to support a local business.

For more information about the classes email Rachel: [email protected]

Follow Rachel on Facebook to see what she's up to.

If you know of other local people providing similar online classes, please let me know so I can help spread the word!

ps Of course, there's always Surbiton's own Joe Wicks - "The Body Coach" - who my 6 year old daughter exercises to every day. Hope your fractured hand gets better soon, Joe!

Volunteering during coronavirus - a reminder

Kingston Council is working with Kingston Voluntary Action and Volunteering Kingston to co-ordinate the many kind offers of help across the Borough.
