Ed Davey has called the Liberal Democrats "the party of policing". Speaking at the Party’s Spring Conference in Southport, Davey stated that the police are critical to protecting freedom and promoting social justice.
He called for an additional £300 million investment in the police - especially community policing.
Davey attacked the Conservatives for "betraying" the police - with new cuts of over 4,000 officers since 2015 and Theresa May's police bashing and assault on police pay and conditions.
Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson, Ed Davey said:
"Our freedom as individuals and communities requires the police. Let Liberal Democrats be the party of the police.
"We need a strong Lib Dem campaign against Conservative police cuts... Against many aspects of how the Conservatives are treating our policemen and women."
